Gap Year in Paris: French Language Foundation Program

GAP YEAR & FOUNDATION PROGRAM

This program is designed for students taking a gap year and looking to spend it learning French while experiencing life in Paris. It’s perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in the culture—whether you’re planning to stay in France long-term, have a French partner, or simply want to enjoy an unforgettable year in one of the world’s most iconic cities.

It’s also ideal for students planning to pursue higher education in France. The program helps you reach the B2 level of French, which is the minimum requirement for admission into French universities. By the end of your course, you’ll also have the opportunity to take the DELF exam—an official diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education.

With 15 hours of classes per week, this program offers the flexibility to balance your studies with part-time work. International students in France are legally allowed to work up to 964 hours per year (approximately 20 hours per week). This leaves you time to gain real-life experience,

HOW MUCH FRENCH YOU WILL LEARN


Our 600-hour program (39 weeks at 15 hours per week and one week at 30 hours) is designed to take you from a complete beginner to a B2 level by the end of the academic year. 

You’ll progress through four levels: A1, A2, B1, and finally, B2. By the end of the program, you’ll be ready to take and pass the DELF B2 exam with us.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

  • Class Size: Each group will consist of 6 to 12 students, ensuring a dynamic yet personalized learning environment.
  • Language Levels: Students will be grouped into classes with relatively homogeneous language levels, allowing for effective and level-appropriate instruction.
  • Language of Instruction: The primary language of instruction will be either English, French, or a mix of both, depending on the language proficiency level of the group.
  • Date: From 1st of October 2025.
  • Estimated Cost of Living in Paris
    • Accommodation: €750–€800/month (shared student housing or private rentals)
    • Food & Transport: €300–€900/month depending on lifestyle and use of public transport
